Dr. Young’s work has taken shape across universities, community organizations, and social service settings, with experience in homelessness, mental health and addictions, child welfare, Deaf culture, and Indigenous community contexts. These experiences continue to shape his understanding of knowledge as relational, situated, and accountable to the communities and relationships from which it emerges.
 
Across his teaching, scholarship, and community engagement, Shane is interested not only in what we know, but in how knowledge is created, shared, and carried through relationships. This relational orientation shapes his approach to research, pedagogy, professional practice, and community accountability.
