About Dr. Shane Young
Dr. Shane Young (Mi'kmaq and Newfoundland Settler) is an assistant professor, researcher, and registered social worker whose work brings together Indigenous knowledge, anti-oppressive practice, and community-engaged approaches. His scholarship and practice are rooted in relationships, reciprocity, and a commitment to advancing equity, mental health, and transformative education.
Through teaching, research, and community partnerships, Shane works to strengthen Indigenous resurgence, foster cultural continuity, and support the creation of more just, inclusive, and relational systems of care and education.
